Company Data API

CompanyRegistryAPI.com's Company Data API provides source-linked company data from primary sources only, such as the official company registers. We are the data provider to trust when you need facts, not guesses.

The API brings what the registers publish into the systems your team already works in: search, company profiles and current officers as JSON, keyed by permanent company IDs. Start without a key or an account.

Company data, straight from the registers.

Registry facts are what an official company register published, with when the register was last observed where that is known. A field a register does not publish is left out, never filled in.

Search API

Find a company by the start of its name or its business ID, narrowed by headquarters country, and get its permanent ID.

/v1/search

Company API

Read a company's registry facts by its permanent ID: status, legal form, identifiers, activity codes and when the register was last observed.

/v1/companies/{company_id}

Officers API

List up to 100 of a company's current officers as the register publishes them, each with the publishing system and, where known, the observation time; has_more says when the register lists more.

/v1/companies/{company_id}/officers

Resolve and batch

Resolve names and domains to permanent IDs and read companies in batches through the full Coragrid API.

We make it easy to get started with the Company Data API. The API docs cover the base URL, rate limit, parameters, a response sample and problem codes, with cURL, JavaScript, Python and cgd examples, and the OpenAPI document describes the same contract for your tools.

Coragrid collects company facts from official company registers, keeps the observation time and source of each fact, and assigns every company a permanent ID that stays valid through renames, mergers and splits. CompanyRegistryAPI.com does not add, correct or infer facts: a value is what the register published, a field the register does not publish is left out, and a redirected, split, removed or restricted record says so in its lifecycle.

Identity
A permanent company ID, the name, and the registry identifiers the register publishes, strongest first: national registry number, LEI, EU VAT number, VAT number or TIN.
Status and lifecycle
The company's status as the register states it, and whether the record is current, redirected to its current record, split into successors, removed or restricted.
Legal form
The legal form exactly as the register publishes it, in the register's language, such as Osakeyhtiö.
Location
The headquarters country, and the registration jurisdiction its identifiers are scoped to; the two can differ.
Activity codes
Current activity classifications in their source scheme and version, primary first, with codes kept verbatim and no inferred crosswalks. Titles a register does not publish come from the classification's own publisher, such as Eurostat for NACE.
Officers
Current officers with their roles as the register states them and appointment dates where published, each with its publishing system and, where known, its observation time.

Why CompanyRegistryAPI.com's Company Data API?

01

Quality

  • Primary sources only: registry facts from the official company registers, activity code titles from the classifications' publishers.
  • Nothing is estimated: a field the register does not publish is absent from the JSON.

02

Flexibility

  • Start free with no key and no account, at 60 requests per minute.
  • Add a Coragrid API key for search by description, batch reads and limits set per key, with the same permanent IDs and field names.

03

Scope

  • Search and company profiles with 35 countries to filter by, and current officers where they are available.
  • Coverage grows as Coragrid connects and qualifies registers; an empty result is not evidence that a company does not exist.

Who is the Company Data API for?

Product managers

Build onboarding, research and counterparty checks on registry facts.

  • Spend less time copying registry extracts by hand
  • Show users where the data came from and when the register was observed
  • Launch on the free API and add a Coragrid API key when usage grows

Software engineers

Rely on a predictable JSON API as a company data backbone.

  • Store permanent IDs that stay valid through renames, mergers and splits
  • Handle errors as RFC 9457 problem documents with stable codes
  • Build from the OpenAPI 3.2 document, or use the cgd command line with a key

Data and AI teams

Ground analysis and agents in facts, not guesses.

  • Find companies by business ID instead of names that change and repeat
  • Check your own company records against what the register publishes
  • Give coding agents the lookup skill through the agent setup file

Frequently asked questions

What is a company data API?

A company data API returns information about companies, such as names, registry numbers, status, legal form and officers, in a machine-readable format, so software can look companies up instead of people copying registry extracts by hand. CompanyRegistryAPI.com's Company Data API returns it as JSON, taken from official company registers.

Why is reliable company data hard to get?

Every country keeps its own register, with its own formats, languages, identifiers and access rules, and company names change and repeat. Many data products fill the gaps with estimates or scraped values, which makes it hard to tell what a register actually said.

Where does the data come from?

Every record is retrieved live from the Coragrid public API. Coragrid collects company facts from official company registers, keeps the observation time and source of each fact, and assigns every company a permanent ID.

How does CompanyRegistryAPI.com keep company data accurate?

It does not add, correct or infer facts. A value is what the register published, a field the register does not publish is left out, and a profile says when the register was last observed where that is known. A correction made at the register is the durable fix, and it flows into the API.

How do I find the right company when names repeat?

Search by the start of the company name or by its business ID, narrowed by its headquarters country if you know it. Every result carries a permanent company ID, so once you have picked the right company you read it by that ID from then on.

How is this different from estimated company data?

Many company databases estimate values such as revenue or headcount and blend sources without saying which. The Company Data API returns what official registers publish and leaves out a field a register does not publish instead of filling it in.

How does it fit into an existing workflow?

Call it from anything that speaks HTTP: three read-only JSON endpoints, documented with cURL, JavaScript and Python examples and an OpenAPI 3.2 document. Coding agents can install the lookup skill through the agent setup file, and with a Coragrid API key the cgd command line works from the terminal.

Do company IDs stay stable over time?

Yes. Every company has a permanent ID that stays valid through renames, mergers and splits. A redirected record names its current record and a split record names its successors, so the IDs you store keep working.

Do I need an API key?

No. The free API needs no key and no account and allows 60 requests per minute per client address; over the limit it answers 429 with a Retry-After header. A Coragrid API key unlocks the public Coragrid API behind it: search by description, higher limits and the cgd command line.

Which countries does it cover?

The country filter offers Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom today. Coverage depends on which registers Coragrid has connected and qualified; a company that is missing is not evidence that it does not exist.

Can I use the data in my product?

Yes. You may use the data in your internal business operations and in your own products and services, provided company data is shown as powered by Coragrid wherever you display it. The Terms of Service list what is not allowed, such as copying a substantial part of the data to build a competing service.

Start with one call.

The Company Data API is free to call, with no key and no account. Read the docs, make your first request, and add a Coragrid API key when you need the full platform.
